So, this past Sunday I was invited to a very special occasion for some pretty great kids - Jibreel's Bismillah (when a child first starts reading the Qur'an) and Haleemah's and Sumayyah's Ameen (when they first finish it). Usually this celebration is common in Pakistani culture as a way to encourage the children to learn about Islam. They dress up in nice clothes, have people over to hear them recite Qur'an, and eat lots of food! :)
The girls getting ready.
Little Jibreel!
Jibreel shares a secret with Uncle Farooq.
Sumayyah with her dad.
Can't forget the giant laddoo! Haha :)
Thanks Maleeha & Murtada for having me over! :D
Hope to have all the photos done and up by Saturday.

I've never seen a giant laddoo.... it looks as if it's gonna chase someone lol!
ReplyDeleteNeither have I! I was surprised when it didn't get up and start chasing the kids, hahaha ;)
ReplyDeleteThe shoes are so beautiful! I didn't know that there are such celebrations, it's really cute that all three siblings had it at the same time, though. The pictures are awesome BTW they look really professional :)
ReplyDeleteJibreel's clothes and shoes were actually his uncle's when he had his Bismillah! :) Crazy, eh? Thanks, Rowan!
ReplyDeletePictures are great mA!
ReplyDeleteThanks! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat pics - did the giant ladoos taste good or were they just for show?
ReplyDeleteThanks, Maarij bhai! Lol, the ladoos were definitely eaten (I have a shot of a partly eaten one too!), but not by me though.
